Weeks of Wonder Projects
W.o.W Projects
Understanding children’s natural sense of curiosity, the Weeks of Wonder (W.o.W.) projects provide opportunities for children to work with their friends to investigate topics that interest them. The projects are carried out once per semester, with children completing two W.o.W. projects in English and another two in their Mother Tongue Languages (MTL). WoW projects promote:
-
Sense of curiosity in young children.
-
Encourage children to make sense of the world around them.
-
Confidence as children take charge of their learning and experience the joy of self-motivated learning.
-
Collaborate with one another using English language and their Mother Tongue Language
During our Weeks of Wonder (W.O.W.) project, they showed a keen interest in how phones have evolved over the years. They asked thoughtful questions like, “What did people use phones for in the past compared to today?” and “How have different types of phones changed over time?”
With help from the teacher, the children seeked answers to these questions through videos and books, discovering how phones have transformed from simple communication tools to multifunctional devices.
To conclude the W.O.W project, the children designed their own pretend phones and shared with one another the different features they would like their phones to have. They even tried communicating with each other using cup telephones, making their learning both fun and hands-on.
