“Honouring Strengths, Unlocking Possibilities” was the theme of our Star Awards in 2023. We are pleased to share with you how West Viewans have embraced this in their learning. Good Progress Award for Chinese Language
The Good Progress Award for Chinese Language has been set up to encourage and reward Singaporean primary students for their efforts in learning Chinese Language. The award is given to the student in P3 to P6 level who has shown the greatest improvement in the learning of Chinese Language based on his or her overall performance for Chinese in 2023. Each winner will receive $100 popular vouchers and a certificate.
The following pupils have done exceptionally well. We are pleased to announce the winners for the 2023 Good Progress Award for Chinese Language: Congratulations to all recipients for their effort and hard work in learning Chinese Language!

National Thinkers’ Challenge
2 teams of P5 pupils from the Da Vinci program participated in the National Thinkers Challenge. The challenge was to apply Artificial Intelligence methods and technologies for solutions to empower Singapore residents take charge of their own health. For their efforts, they were awarded certificates of participation.

National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore 2023
The National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOΣ) is an NUS High School initiative, working in partnership with the Singapore Mathematical Society. It aims to generate greater interest in Mathematics among students in primary schools. P5 Da Vinci Capstone Project
The P5 Da Vinci pupils completed their program with their Capstone Projects. The theme this year focuses innovative ways of reducing carbon footprint. 10 teams worked together on a variety of creative solutions to tackle the issues. The projects range from tackling food wastes to conserving energy.
The pupils showcased their projects enthusiastically to their school mates in term 2. 3 best projects were chosen by a panel of judges.
Today we honor the 3 teams and, also to all Da Vinci pupils.

Singapore Primary Science Olympiad 2023

The Singapore Primary Science Olympiad (SPSO) is an annual national competition which has been organised by the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science since 2009. This competition is open to Primary 5 pupils. Cyber Wellness - #BetterCyberSafe Schools Dance Challenge 2023
In August, Cyber Security Agency (CSA) Singapore organized #BetterCyberSafe Schools Dance Challenge 2023. The competition is opened for all pupils who are in MOE schools. We are happy to announce that Shayne Ko Sheng Yu of 2 Diligence for his achievement in getting Second Position (Individual Category)!
Malay Language Composition Writing Competition organised by EDUFRONT
10 pupils from Primary 4 to Primary 6 participated in Malay Language Composition Writing Competition. They have put in great effort for the competition in Term 3. Rayyan Hayder from 6 Confidence was one of the finalists and won himself the Gold Award.
Malay Language Cultural Competition
Malay Language Cultural Competition, in lieu of Malay Language Month, was conducted in August. The Malay pupils presented various cultural performances such as singing competition, advertisement quotes competition and poetry recitation competition. Primary 1 to Primary 5 pupils have put in a lot of effort for the competitions.

6th National Text Recital Competition
In the 6th National Text Recital Competition, 11 pupils showcased an exceptional level of commitment during their training sessions. Yu Zhihao and Liang Xin Nee rightfully earned the gold medal, while Chen Zihao and Ker Zhi Xin demonstrated their talent and secured the silver medal in the preliminary round - an accomplishment worthy of praise!
During the final round, our hearts swelled with pride as we witnessed Yu Zhihao and Liang Xin Nee’s unwavering perseverance, which earned them a well-deserved 3rd place. Their dedication serves as an inspiration to all. Malay Song Singing Competition
In West View Primary, we believe that every child is talented. Our P3 pupils have learnt another Mother Tongue language during Conversational Chinese Malay programme. During the programme, they had the opportunity to learn to speak and sing in Malay language. As such, we have organised a Malay Song Singing Competition in Term 2. Our pupils displayed DARE by taking part actively in the competition. Based on the submission, we have selected 3 winners based on their pronunciation and performance.

Navarasa Medai 2023
At West View Primary, we believe that every child has unique strengths and talents. The Tamil language unit organized ‘Navarasa Medai’ 2023 this year, to honor pupils’ strengths through digital literary competition. The aim of the event was to introduce the various aspects of Tamil literature and inculcate the joy of learning Tamil language.
Our pupils displayed learning dispositions of Inquisitiveness and Dare by taking part actively and speaking in Tamil confidently.

16th Annual Mathlympics
Mathlympics is a nation-wide Mathematics competition to allow inquisitive pupils to display their Maths thinking skills and concepts. 15 Primary 5 West Viewans showed showed great perseverance as they completed a challenging 2-hour paper. Keenan Prajna Harryson Lee from 5 Diligence, has won the Bronze award! Well done, Keenan, and to all participants of this competition!
6th National Text Recital Competition
Our pupils participated in the 6th National Text Recital Competition, jointly organised by the Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), Anderson Primary School, Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School and Singapore Chinese Teachers Literary Recital Society.
We thank Mdm Zhao Yijin, Mdm Ng Ling Ling, Mdm Chan Wai Ling and Mdm Liu Ying for their guidance and efforts put in to train our pupils for this competition. We appreciate the pupils’ hard work and hope that their achievement will inspire others.

2023 National Vlog Competition for Singapore Primary School Students
8 of our talented pupils from Primary 3 to 5 submitted 2 videos on Chinese culture and traditions in the 2023 National Vlog Competition for primary school. The objective of the competition is to improve the use of Chinese Language in oral expression and cultivate a love for the language. The team has attained Certificate of Participation.
We thank Mdm Zhao Yijin for her guidance and time, and the participants for their extraordinary performance. We hope their efforts will motivate our West Viewans to love Chinese Language.

Green Wave Environmental Care Project
Three pupils participated in the Green Wave Environmental Care Project organised by Sembcorp Marine. Their project, a tissue paper storage and management system, seeks to reduce wastage of tissue paper by allowing users to take just an enough amount for each use.
