Rakan Bahasa

As part of Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language Month), the Rakan Bahasa initiative is organised by the Malay Language Council Singapore (Majlis Bahasa) to encourage students who are passionate about the Malay Language and culture, to spread the love of the language to their peers, friends and families.

Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language Month) was first launched in 1988 by the Malay Language Council Singapore, as an initiative to encourage the Malay community to embrace the Malay language in their daily lives. Users of the Malay language are heirs of the rich Malay language, and can ensure the continuity of the language through continuous usage.

From being a biennial event, Bulan Bahasa, since 2011, has become an annual event. The various activities of Bulan Bahasa have been created to promote and instil greater confidence in and mastery of the Malay language.

We are proud to announce our 2 pupils from West View Primary, Nur Sabrina Binte Shahmudin (5E) and Muhammad Haritz Dzikri Bin Herman (5E) were both appointed as Rakan Bahasa on Saturday, 13 April 2019.

They will be given a set of tasks which revolve around skills such as reading, writing, speaking and other activities that support Malay Language learning.

The teacher-in-charge is Mdm Suriani Abd Bakri will assist by training them to be the spokesperson for events as well as prepare them in the upcoming Newsmaker competition.

OPS BACA

The Zhenghua Malay Activity Executive Committee (MAEC) organised OPS BACA on 16 March 2019, Saturday from 9.00am to 1.30pm at Zhenghua Community Club. Mr Liang Eng Hwa, MP for Holland Bukit Timah GRC graced this event as the Guest-of-Honour. Our principal, Mr Eddie Foo was present throughout the event to give his utmost support to our pupils and teachers.

OPS BACA aims to heighten awareness and excite pupils on reading habits as well as provide opportunities for them to showcase their talents. On top of that, it is hope that through reading, pupils will know more about classic Malay stories and build confidence through snippets of their acts and recital of poetries. Through this competition, we hope this would encourage pupils to be creative and have fun learning the Malay Language.

West View Primary clinched 1st positions for both Primary 3 & Primary 6 categories and 2nd for Primary 4. Due to their winnings, our school emerged as the Overall Champion School for Ops Baca 2019. We would like to congratulate the Malay Language teachers who have worked hard to train the pupils for this special event. Our teachers told the pupils to put in their best and enjoy themselves on stage. Appreciation goes out to Mdm Noor Azleen, Mdm Suriani, Mdm Siti Sujinah, Mdm Nurhijjah, Mdm Majidah, Ms Nursyahirah & Mdm Saoyah who has successfully bring out the best in our pupils for Ops Baca 2019.
