Oral Interaction Time
English teachers interact with their pupils on a given topic or on any topic that is of interest to them. This is done twice per week, 10 minutes per session, before the start of the morning assembly. The rationale is to encourage our pupils to speak up and to engage them on an informal level. Immediate feedback is also given so that pupils are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
In the classroom, teachers will expose pupils to the use of TREES in attempting to structure their thoughts. Pupils are encouraged to plan out their responses in the following format – Thoughts, Reasons, Examples, Experiences and Suggestions during their oral lessons.
