Sony Creative Science Award 2015

Math and science fair final 2015.jpg
The selected winners from our school’s toy competition, refined their toys to compete with many other schools at the National Sony Creative Science Award (SCSA) 2015 held by the Singapore Science Centre.

After a round of interview, we are proud to announce that Amin Kim from Primary 3 Fascinating won a Merit Award for the WhizKid Category (Theme: Lift Me Up!).

Her toy, ‘Let’s Exercise’, has two little humans situated on a green corrugated board. When the handle is turned, the little humans will take turns to do a sit-up and a pull-up simultaneously. Amin’s creation works on the simple wheel and axel mechanism. When the metal bar is turned, it will “push” the humans up to their workout positions.

She has indeed done our school proud! Amin believes that she has gained a lot from this experience of toy making and would like to encourage all her peers to take part in this annual competition next year and the many more years to come.

This is what Amin has to say: “This experience made me more resilient. I failed many times while creating my toy. My mother encouraged me and we brainstormed on possible solutions to make my toy work.”
