Shared Learning Experiences

West View believes that all pupils must be given the opportunities for common shared experiences. This provides deep learning, allowing collaborative and effective learning to take place. In science, many engaging learning experiences are conducted for all levels.

School-based Shared Experiences

P3: Hands-on experiences on animal classification, based on the characteristics of the different animal groups, by observing the various preserved animal specimens up close.

P4: A trip to the River Safari to learn more about the conservation efforts in Singapore in preserving its biodiversity.

P5: Handball Competition to experience what a system is like (many parts working together for a common goal/function).

Science Enrichment Lessons at Science Centre

P4: Light – Pupils are given the opportunity to explore the nature of light with a series of hands-on activities where they investigate how different mirrors, lenses and materials affect how light travels. 

P5: Diversity of Cells – Pupils are engaged in activities where they view various microorganisms and cells (e.g. cheek and leaf cells) microscopically and understand the application for using the microscope.

P6: Aquatic Plants and Animals – Pupils use field techniques to catch and observe a variety of aquatic organisms which make up the pond community.
